Velvet voiced Songstress Kathy Sanborn sent us her new CD; "FANTASIA". This new release is reminiscent of the Easy Listening Jazz sounds that have always been appreciated by staunch music fans; but have not been available for enjoyment for quite some time. Kathy Sanborn has successfully corrected that music publication oversight, while providing us with her own interpretation of a uniquely fresh 'Latin Jazz' style. "FANTASIA" (Spanish pronunciation) has ten songs; most of which are in Spanish. The collection opens with "Unidos", a surprisingly pleasant composition which features Kathy's rich velvet voice in a multi-track vocal setting; augmented with the smooth trumpet contribution of Wayne Ricci. Another superb feature noted during this listening session, was the subtle, yet noticeable tempo changes (evident in "Woe Be Gone"), within the song selections; accomplished without changing or sacrificing the gratifying substance achieved by the CD's overall tonal presentation. The artist also provided exquisitely rich lead vocal work throughout the production; embellishing the listening experience with her own superb multi-tonal voice support. The CD features a large amount of quality work by a skillful artist. In addition to providing outstanding vocal technique, Kathy included delightful piano support to her voice; while augmenting the work with her own composing and project production talents. Along with Ricci's good complementary trumpet tones, the CD's overall musicianship is noteworthy; with special mention being due to the artistic effort on drums/percussion, and bass.
