MONTY GUY Friends In Motion Joe Blessett

Joe's artwork is entitled CHANGING EVERYTHING; with the subtitle "Remembering Important Past (RIP), which is also the name of one of the nineteen tracks on the CD. This creative work displays a spirited, honest, and artful interpretation which is consistent with the elements of the jazz genre. Quite a lot has been written on Joe's CD, so we were not sure of our ability to add anything new to the conversation. However, "Changing Everthing" does move a music fan to comment. First, it is wonderful that Joe clearly and emphatically notes the well regarded creative names in the jazz music genre, while creating a nouveau jazz tapestry with texture, style, familiarity, and originality; yet reminiscent of the Avant Garde movement of yesteryear. Joe presents an anchoring motif riff, then blends in a substantive electronic tonal backdrop with the openness of a live jam session. Two of the tracks may suggest a thought to Miles Davis; "Talking to Miles", and "Miles"; only Joe Blessett can offer confirmation. As Miles Davis fans, we listened a little closer to those tracks. We found that Joe presented sincere expression, spacious arrangement, and a balanced tonality, while blending a traditional instrumentation presence which included electronica, and voices. Joe Blessett's "Changing Everything" showcases jazz inventiveness, musical variety, aural adventure, and a new direction in soundscape design; with many familiar sign soundposts along the way. Finally, Joe shared with us his "ten year rule" for music appreciation; basically, we include a work piece in our collection because we will be able to enjoy it ten years from now. Joe Blessett's CD "Changing Everything" will be appreciated as a cutting edge piece during many listening sessions during the upcoming ten years journey in sound appreciation; notwithstanding its sparkling presence in the 56th GRAMMY AWARDS celebration.
