There should not be taxes on Olympics Medals; or medals from any sports, says MONTY GUY. Although a unique personal endeavor, achievement in sport is a social contribution of tremendous significance; to the current and future aspirations and development of our world community. For those few who "win" such opportunity, it is a singular moment in the unpredictable turbulence of an unpredictable lifetime. After all the long and lonely days and nights in training, the time away from family and friends, the loss of social interaction, the broken bones, the torn ligaments, the many disappointing losses along the way, it is a travesty for athletes to suffer the indignity of having to pay "taxes on medals" won. I am outraged! This should stop immediately. If I am wrong on this issue of there being taxes to be paid by athletes on the "value" of medals won at the Olympics and other sports venues, then I apologize. Otherwise, I am hopeful that my outrage on this matter is appreciated and understood by fans of sport.
