This week, we listened to Love's River, the new CD by composer and pianist Laura Sullivan. It is an instrumental collection. The arrangements are selectively spare, spotlighting the thoughtful piano interpretation of the compositions. This production approach tends to create a melodic roominess in the sound; which promotes a relaxed, contemplative listening experience that encourages a warm familiarity with songs. Love's River induced and promoted many moments of healthy reflective mental interaction with the usual turbulent nature of everyday living. The CD, Love's River, received as a surprise gift, is a welcomed addition to our music collection; and will engender the mutually enjoyable benefits of good mental health and many moments of delightful listening.
