MONTY GUY Friends In Motion Dr. Nick & The Wah Wah Boys

We just received "A Journey Of The Mind", a new CD by Dr. Nick and the Wah Wah Boys. The five tracks collection of new compositions is honest, energetic, and true to the Rock Music artform; notwithstanding the CD's contemporary original "feel". Composer Nick Rossos, along with Executive Producers Nick & Noreene Rossos, describe the project as "Psychedelic Rock Music". The packaging photos evoke memories of Atlantic City's Pop Festival in 1969; along with Woodstock, and the Fillmore East. Although I didn't make those scenes, some of the rock music of the day is in my vinyl collection. Dr. Nick and the Wah Wah Boys delivers the sound and feel of that era with sincerity and contemporary panache. The collection opens with "The Long Journey". After a spirited beginning, the ensemble settled into a smooth and interesting journey. The tempo is captivating; along the lines of "Take Five", and the "Mission:Impossible" theme. Meanwhile, it is clear to see why the producer was overtly excited about Kofi Baker's drum solo contribution. In addition, Tom Marolda provided wonderful guitar artistry throughout the CD's listening experience. Track two, "Rocky Mountain High" began with a real nice intro motif led by Michael Gallant on keyboards. Now getting into a smooth rock movement stride, the Wah Wah Boys delivered a moderate tempo instrumental ballad entitled "Mitochondria". They held on to their glowing stride with a blues type song appropriately entitled "Blue Universe"; a really nice tune. Track five, entitled "A trip to Jupiter's Moon, Europa", accentuated the fine production quality of the CD by creating space for each musician's art skill, thereby presenting a credible "live" sound and feel to this studio production. This CD is the result of a very imaginative project undertaking. The percussion phrasing is captivating, and shows good kit use. The Wah Wah Boys deliver hard, honest work on this CD. With the additional quality Engineering contribution by Tom Marolda, "A Journey Of The Mind, featuring Kofi Baker", is a contemporary "pull forward" of yesteryear's Age of Psychedelic Rock that is a genuine reminder to those alive who were there, while being a credible example of that era's "live" and exciting rock sound style to those music fans who are young enough to enjoy today's eclectic and original music creativity.
