Rhythmic Movement; Tania Stavreva

I'm breathless, emotionally energized, amazed, fascinated, and enchanted by the abilities of human artistic achievement after listening to "Rhythmic Movement" by Tania Stavreva.

First, the manufacturer of the piano she used must be proud. The sound and mechanical response to the artist's interpretation desires are outstanding elements.

Then we have this artist's ability to infuse her performance with passion, drama, and excitement! She presents her craft work with clear, clean, precise, and deliberately executed excellent instrumentation.

While listening to "Rhythmic Movement", this listener recalled the stylings of McCoy Tyner, Art Tatum, and, perhaps a nuclear hi-tech Scott Joplin.

There are fourteen tracks in this collection. Those who love traditional classical music may be enlightened with the Rock-type perspective. Those who love rock can't help but be moved by the representation of outstanding classical form. Overall, it is easy to recall the work of Emerson, Lake, and Palmer. Track nine, entitled 'Jazz Etude Toccatina', is like ELP's  "Tarkus" presented in pure creative form.

In the midst of the passionately presented collection, "Danza de la Moza Donosa", most closely resembles a ballad; without loss of the artist's passionate fire. "Danza del Gaucho Matrero" is worthy of a listener's appreciation.
The tracks which allow Tania to spread her wings while revealing the extent of her skills and abilities are "White Lies from Lomax"; with it's many emotional colors, tempo changes, surprising vocal chant accentuation, and overall lively arrangement. The other track is "Dilmano, Dilberto (Variations on a Bulgarian Folk Song); along with the interesting prelude "Dilmano, Dilberto (Original Vocal Theme)".

A huge surprise is contained in track fourteen "Ritmico y Distordionado". The well regarded drummer, Will Calhoun (Living Colour) keeps up with, and stylishly embellishes Tania's energetic rock style infused classical piano playing. The result is a magnificently original musical collaboration.

The album's quality of sound reproduction, engineered by Ron Saint Germain, served the artist, her piano, and guest artist drummer well.

"Rhythmic Movement" by Tania Stavreva is an outstanding example of the genius, beauty, passion, adventure, and accomplishment of today's outstanding creators of popular music
