Friends In Motion; Amy Otey

Lights Are Always On In Nashville; Amy Otey Amy Otey's new six tracks Americana collection is called "Lights Are Always On In Nashville". The material is indicative of this artist taking a new direction in the pursuit of creative productivity development. Amy's new material highlights her voice; while the instrumentation presents the mood, style, and light of the singularly recognizable excellence of the Nashville song style. The new songs were composed by Amy and the well regarded trumpeter Alex Otey; both of whom are accomplished contributors to the vibrant GRAMMY music soundscape. Each song displays it's own distinctive personality; developed from a desire " to create songs that speak to the human experience, (while recognizing) the trials and successes of a life well lived", says Amy. The musical presentation moves along in a lively, yet, patient manner. The title track "Lights Are Always On In Nashville" is a moving ballad, with a nice refrain that suggests that one is not alone (in Nashville), because "the music will surround your heart". It was very easy to allow this disc to enjoy the replay function. Our favorite tracks are the crisp, melodious, and tight "You're Not Alone", and the beautifully constructed ballad entitled "All We Have Is Now". This new artistic direction in creative effort is a harbinger of more good things to come from Amy Otey and her selected musicians.
